Dome facade in Florence.

FULL VIEW PLEASE!!
I visited Florence around new year, and that duomo is just a-m-a-z-i-n-g! :o
I was very intrigued by two statues however, which ornated the facade near the main door. This is one of them. The pose and face are so dramatic and almost demon-like, looks like burned, although he has wings of an angel. So what is it? Any guesses?

oh wow i wish i can go to these places!!! great shot, too.

i think it's more of a demon pretending to be an angel who is pretending to be man.

What was the angel looking at or towards? And it looks fierce but some of that looks down to the weathering he has had to endure... :D

Uff, I'm not sure - I'll try to find that out. As for the weather-explanation that can't be it, 'cause no other stature looks like that! They are all very well preserved, so either there was vandalism or it was created like that! ;)
